Dramatize Your Story

Create and Act Out Your Story

Integrated Storytelling

A multi-disciplinary workshop series integrating storytelling with writing and acting.

You’ll create a short theatrical piece – a skit – using voice and movement (including gestures) for dramatic impact. For your story, just tap into past experiences and events from your real-life situations.

After writing your script, we go over the basics of acting before an audience. This helps you decide on movement, body language, facial expression, and particular vocal qualities to communicate and act out the various characters to “show and tell” the story. Here’s what this workshop offers participants:

  • Connect past experiences and events with the present in a supportive group setting.
  • Strengthen interpersonal relationships and enhance connection and empathy – a bonding experience.
  • Develop kinesthetic awareness (even if movement is limited).
  • Boost confidence and self-esteem – the result of our ability to express ourselves.
  • Improve memory, control, and clarity.
  • Calm those butterflies down – feel safe in front of others.
  • Have fun – enjoy and appreciate the creative process.

I am always struck by the insights gained as a result of sharing a story with others. The emotional support that comes from the group truly brings people closer together.
