Give Kids a Fighting Chance to AVOID a Fight

Skills to Avoid a Fight
Programs designed for elementary school-age children, pre-teens, and teens.

What is a kid’s automatic reaction when someone teases them or calls them a name? Usually, they get upset, defend themselves, or attack back. Or they can cower and become withdrawn. Sometimes a fight results. It could be verbal but it can also become physical.

Suppose they could do something different to stop a fight in its tracks? This is what I teach kids and it changes how they interact with others. It also changes their perception of what is a threat (emotional or physical) and what is not!

Based on years of working with students in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS), I’ve refined what to say and what to do in these situations. Not only do children learn actual words to say, but also some physical things to do designed keep them safe without hurting others in the process.

NOTE: I was certified as a self-defense coach and adapted many of the techniques for effective use in places where kids gather such as schools, parks, sports centers, etc.
